Resources for Home Room Parents

There are three main responsibilities for home room parents.  They are:

  1. Plan the three major parties (Halloween, Winter, and Valentine's Day).
  2. Plan activities, fun, gifts, etc. for teacher appreciation week (typically the first full week in May).
  3. Recognize your teacher's birthday.

At the very beginning of the year, you can tweak and send home the classroom party volunteer survey.  Here is a sample survey.

Parents generally are more than happy to provide food, paper, craft, and game items for the parties.  Per Mr. Horky, please do not ask for monetary donations.  Discuss with your teacher, well in advance, of what their expectations are for parties in their rooms.  No home-made food allowed for any party.  Everything has to be store bought or prepared in the classroom.  Please check with the teacher for any food allergies.
